I want Marijuana legalized, but i dont resort to lying like some seem to be doing?

I’ve read everything from marijuana curing aids and cancer, to marijuana being a miracle cure for …literally everything. why cant we stop this cherade? everyone knows marijuana is bad for you. not as bad as alcohol or cigarettes, but its still bad for you. it causes anxiety, paranoia, tachycardia (which can lead to heart attacks if you’re not eating right), munchies (which could make you overeat and get obese or fat and cause its own health problems), respiration issues if smoked, and cognitive memory problems if used often enough for long enough. make no mistake, it’s a vise, just a lesser one. but why do we act as if its a miracle medicine cure all? doubtful.

Just smoke it and shut up!

It doesn’t cause ALL those symptoms in EVERY person that smokes it – or no one would be smoking it.

People act like it is a miracle cure because that is the only way to get it “legalized”.

BOTH sides need to stop the games.

And anyone that would believe pot can cure AIDS or cancer is a fool. I have never heard these claims – but I have heard pot can make life more bearable for cancer and AIDs patients. I do believe that claim. And it helped my 73 year old mother eat after having kidney failure. I think it has prolonged her life by making her want to eat.

I’m with you – I think it should be legalized. I don’t use it, but I have; I think like any drug it has its place in the area of “recreational drug use” and is not really harmful if used in moderation. A “stoner” is no better than a drunk – though I think that marijuana is less addictive than alcohol – not addictive at all, I believe.

Anxiety, paranoia, tachycardia – those are all adverse side effects, and like any other drug, if you have those you should stop. Alcohol causes vomiting, stomach ulcers, acid reflux and blood poisoning – but not in a majority of people, and not if used in moderation.

There is a big difference in prolonged, consistent use and in occasional recreational use.

As far as its medicinal value, that’s not all lies. I don’t know of any claims that it is a cure for cancer – but it can certainly help. Chemotherapy virtually destroys the appetite – I know that when my father had cancer it was all we could do to get him to drink an Ensure to get some food in him. He didn’t use “medicinal marijuana” but I think that in many, many cases, use of the drug in this instance can alleviate depression and stimulate appetite – both very, very good things. The National Cancer Institute has done many studies with positive results in the use of marijuana as a “Supportive Care” for cancer patients. No one is saying it is a miracle – they are saying that it can help.

Marijuana has been shown to have a beneficial effect on intraocular pressure in patients with Glaucoma – the study below shows that it is comparable to other treatments – not necessarily better and not necessarily worse, but certainly a viable treatment option.

Marijuana is a big political issue. You are going to hear claims from both sides that point out the extremes – but the bottom line is that it does have many medicinal benefits in certain cases – it is not a dangerous drug if used in moderation, and can be as bad as any other drug if abused.

Take a look at the use of Oxycontin or Oxycodone in pain management – man, when I had a collapsed lung and when I had surgery on my shoulder (two different occasions) I don’t know how I would have survived without those two drugs. No, I’m not an addict, and no, I don’t use them now recreationally – but I know of many people who have died from the irresponsible recreational use of them, and others who have had to spend a lot of time in rehab for addiction. Why is marijuana treated so differently?

I think the answer is in the drug trade, the so-called “War on Drugs” and the money involved, and in the fact that marijuana is so easily home-grown it can’t be regulated as easily as other pharmaceuticals.

Well, its NOT a medical cure all.

But what you seem to not realize is that it DOES have medicinal uses.

Can you explain why people have such a hard time believing it can be used medicinally?? I mean, everyone accepts completely that harder narcotics like cocaine and meth and heroine can be used medicinally. No one calls people who have legit medical prescriptions for morphine or oxycodone a sad drug user trying to justify their addiction by calling it medical. So why is it soooo hard to believe marijuana could have medical uses?

No, its NOT a cure all. But it DOES alleviate pain, anxiety, insomnia and nausea, even short term use can alleviate depression and ptsd and bipolar disorder.

For most people, it actually doesnt cause anxiety or paranoia. It can if too much is used, but….

Yes, for some people it is also a vice. Morphine and oxy and xanax and compazine and all those other drugs are also a vice for some people. But it doesnt change that ALL of them have very legit medical uses. And interestingly enough, its safer to use marijuana than all those other drugs, that are routinly given every day without a second thought.

No, its not 100% safe, but what is 100% safe? Hell, I can kill myself if I drink too much water. There are some medical conditions and medications that marijuana use is contraindicated with, but the same is true of every single medication and product available. NOTHING is safe for everyone to use. But if I have the choice between a rx’ed narcotic that is going to keep me asleep all day while making me chemically addictive, and marijuana that will allow me to be pain free, but actually awake and up and living life without the risk of addiction, I am going to choose the marijuana.

So, again, why do you assume its impossible for marijuana to be used medicinally?

Ummm – then don’t repeat these lies you have been feed.
No one – No body – has made a claim that MJ cures cancer or AIDs. No one is acting like it is a cure all. 3/4 of what you’ve said is lies. Now go and legalize and stop repeating lies!!!!
